Berserk Land Rover for your time.
So after 8 weeks, 10 IT recruiting and staffing companies, 30 interviews, 762 long distance calls from India about helpdesk positions I landed a salaried mid-level IT position.
Company A —
The Good:
It's a job that will fine tune my existing skillset.
It is in a hip and fun part of town (Nashville).
Salary isn't bad at all. (I live modestly, though I do have a Land Rover to drive-repair)
Wife is in better spirits now.
The Bad:
It's a 30 mile commute into downtown traffic. (PTSD and traffic mix as well as qualudes, cocaine, and 100 lb. hookers)
It's moderately entry-level. (IT departments and companies have a penchant for disregarding military service. They see I am a Marine and that automatically means I am dumb and only used for shooting bad guys. This is aggravating because I was a high level infantry comms specialist as well as schooled, certified, and weathered network and systems admin when I wasn't deployed)
The company is a Managed Service Provider. (Provides IT for companies too cheap to have their own in-house staff)
Now here is where it gets interesting, I also interviewed for a net/sys admin position at Company B, who are closer to home and are looking to pay about $11k more and have ties to military branches, federal agencies, and facilities requiring high level security. I got an absolutely awesome vibe from the IT director, HR rep, and the VP (he was a Marine Cobra pilot several years ago). I have already accepted the position with the first company, but don't start for a week as I am heading out of the country on vacation. I had a callback interview with the VP of Company B on Wednesday and was told that the IT Director would be on vacation until Monday, and that he had the final say in who will be chosen. They plan to make their decision on Tuesday and put out the offer to the chosen individual. So, I am hoping (and also asking that the Oppos say a little prayer for me about Company B) they choose me, make the offer, I get the email or voicemail as I get back into the country and save myself the money and hardship of the commute for a lower level job. Because Land Rovers do not like highways, and I hate driving my Nissan D21 on the highway too.
also have some video of this insane machine. skip to 0:40 for the action
TheBloody, Oppositelock lives on in our shitposts.

Take job A. If job B works out, then leave job A and go to job B.
Also congrats!
